Stories the Mountains Hold 2025
Stories the Mountains Hold is an ongoing series that documents the people and landscape of the North West foothills of the Snowy Mountains.
These transitional sites, often peripheral or overlooked, are where atmosphere and ambiguity gather. Influenced by the visual language of film noir, my work embraces shadow, stillness, and unresolved narrative. The structures I photograph—unremarkable yet strangely loaded—act as silent witnesses to shifting social, historical, and emotional terrain.
Rather than presenting the landscape as fixed or picturesque, I render it as a psychological zone: cinematic, charged, and often suspended in time. In doing so, I aim to open a space for reflection on the complexity of a place—its memory, its marginalia, and its quiet capacity to hold meaning beyond its surface.
